The Mission: “Arunella” is a dedicated social service initiative aimed at uplifting underprivileged student communities by improving access to education, knowledge, and opportunities. As an active member, I realized that engineering isn’t just about machines or technology—it’s about building strong foundations for people and society. Through Arunella, we apply engineering thinking, problem-solving, and innovation to address real-world educational challenges, inspiring young minds and creating pathways for a better future. This experience strengthened my belief that true engineering success lies in using our skills to create meaningful, lasting social impact.
O/L Seminar Series: We identified a significant gap in educational resources for students preparing for their Ordinary Level examinations in rural areas. In response, our team organized a comprehensive seminar series by bringing together expert teachers to conduct intensive crash courses in Mathematics, Science, and English. In 2023, this seminar series was successfully conducted across approximately 16 rural schools, reaching around 500 students in districts including Hambantota, Matale, Kandy, Rathnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Nuwara Eliya, and Kegalle. These seminars were conducted on weekends, balancing our university academic commitments, demonstrating our dedication to social responsibility and educational equity.
